Welcome to PASSIONAIRE Magazine, Janet. Happy to be with you. Let's begin.
What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
When I grew up, I thought I was going to be a buyer in New York with my degree is in Fashion Merchandising.
What made you decide to do what you’re doing now? How did you get started?
In 1992 I was working as a customer service representative for a company that provided transportation to senior citizens, they lost the contract and I was laid off. During that time, I saw an article about a woman that would go into companies and teach people how to be organized. I thought friends and co-workers kept telling me I was organized so I did some research and discovered there was a National and Local Chapter of Professional Organizer and since I was still living at home, I decided to start the business.
What is the focus of your business? Who do you help/assist?
I empower my clients by helping them get organized which results in them better managing their time, space, money and life. The majority of my clients are women who are running companies or their business and need help managing everything from projects to personal affairs.
What is your biggest customer success, the one you are most proud of and remember the most?
Working with a client that downsized from 10,000 square feet to less than 3, 000 square feet. She left the office for two days while I worked with a team to move her and setup everything. When she returned to her new office, she was very pleased at the outcome.
As an organization gets larger there can be a tendency for the “passion” that started the business to dampen – how do you keep this from happening?
It is important for me to surround myself with women who believe that as we get older to continue living life doing what you love to do.
Can you name a person who has had a tremendous impact on you as a leader? Why and how did this person impact your life/strengthen your faith?
Naming one person for me would be hard because there are two women who have had an impact on my life. Ann Strickland encouraged me to start my podcast because she said it would allow me to impact the world. The second woman would be Pastor Geneva Hackett. As my mentor, she helped me improve my presentation skills and become the speaker I am today. Both women saw something in me that I did not see in myself.
You are an accomplished entrepreneur. Tell us about some of them.
